Try making your own homemade fries by slicing potatoes lengthwise, drizzling them with extra virgin olive oil, and lightly seasoning them with salt, pepper and rosemary before baking them until crispy. You won’t even need a dip for these flavorful fries!
  3. Bake those wings. Everyone loves fried chicken wings slathered in Buffalo sauce, but your stomach might pay the penalty later. Try making your own chicken wings. Placing wings on a lightly greased baking sheet, season with salt and pepper, and cover with foil. Bake them in the oven at 400 degrees, and lightly baste with your favorite sauce during the last few minutes of cooking. Make sure to choose a sauce that is not too acidic or it could induce heartburn.
  4. Replace caffeinated beverages with decaffeinated beverages. Caffeine can cause the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) between your esophagus and stomach to relax, allowing stomach acid to seep into the esophagus. Have a selection of beverages that includes decaffeinated sodas and teas and flavored waters so you and your guests can reduce unnecessary risk of heartburn.
  5. When it comes to dessert, think fruity. Chocolate and mint are not heartburn-friendly, so stay away from desserts that contain either ingredient. Instead, think on the fruity side and make a fruit cobbler, fruit pizza or even a bowl of fresh fruit.
